At Flick, we believe in radical transparency about your data. This privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal data.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Profile Information

When you create a profile, we collect:

• First name (displayed to other users)
• Age (displayed to other users)
• Gender and preferences (used for matching)
• Photos (1-3 photos you upload)
• Bio (optional, displayed to other users)
• Phone number (optional, only shared with matched users if you choose)

1.2 Location Data

We collect your approximate location to:

• Show you other users within 500 meters at the same event
• Calculate approximate distances (e.g., "45m away")
• Automatically dissolve matches when users move apart

Important: We never share your exact GPS coordinates with other users. They only see approximate distance.

1.3 Event Information

• The event QR code you scanned
• Event name and sponsor information
• Your activity status (active/inactive)

1.4 Usage Data

• Flicks sent and received
• Matches made
• Messages exchanged with matches
• App performance and crash reports

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide the service: Show your profile to nearby users at the same event
• Enable matching: Connect you with people who mutually flick each other
• Safety and moderation: Prevent abuse and ensure community guidelines are followed
• Improve the app: Analyze usage patterns to enhance features
• Event analytics: Provide organizers with anonymized data (number of users, matches made)

We never:

• Sell your personal data to third parties
• Use your data for advertising outside the app
• Share your exact location with anyone
• Keep your data longer than necessary

3. Data Sharing

3.1 With Other Users

When you're active at an event, other users at that event can see:

• Your first name, age, and photos
• Your bio (if you added one)
• Approximate distance from them (e.g., "45m away")
• Whether you've flicked them

3.2 With Event Organizers

Event organizers receive anonymized, aggregated data only:

• Total number of active users
• Number of matches made
• General usage patterns

Event organizers never receive individual user profiles, names, or personal data.

3.3 With Service Providers

We use trusted third-party services:

• Supabase: Database and authentication (encrypted)
• Cloud Storage: Photo storage (secure, encrypted)
• Analytics: Crash reporting and performance monitoring

All providers are bound by strict data protection agreements.

4. Data Retention

4.1 When You Leave an Event

When you tap "Leave Event":

• Your profile becomes invisible to other users
• You're disconnected from the event
• Your profile is saved so you can join other events without re-onboarding

4.2 When You Delete Your Account

When you tap "Delete Account":

• Your profile is permanently deleted within 24 hours
• All your photos are removed from our servers
• All your matches and messages are deleted
• Your flicks are removed
• This action cannot be undone

4.3 Automatic Cleanup

• Inactive profiles: Deleted after 20 minutes of inactivity
• Matches: Automatically dissolve when users are >500m apart
• Crash logs: Kept for 90 days for debugging

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data: Request a copy of your personal information
• Update your data: Edit your profile at any time
• Delete your data: Remove your account permanently
• Opt-out: Disable notifications or location tracking
• Port your data: Request your data in a machine-readable format
• Object to processing: Request we stop processing your data

6. Security

We protect your data with:

• Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest
• Secure servers: Hosted on enterprise-grade infrastructure
• Access controls: Limited employee access to personal data
• Regular audits: Security testing and vulnerability scanning

7. Children's Privacy

Flick is not for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we learn that we've collected information from someone under 18, we'll delete it immediately.

8. International Users

Flick is operated from the United States. If you're outside the US, your data may be transferred to and stored on servers in the US. By using Flick, you consent to this transfer.

For EU users, we comply with GDPR requirements for data protection and your privacy rights.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do:

• We'll update the "Last Updated" date
• We'll notify you in-app if changes are significant
• Continued use of Flick means you accept the updated policy
